CFMS Consulting Inc. Helps Resurrect the Former Eaton/Sears Building in Downtown Vancouver

Richmond Hill, ON – October 5, 2012 - CFMS, a leading independent commissioning company located in Ontario, is pleased to announce today that they are providing commissioning services for what will be an exciting new addition to the downtown core of Vancouver, British Columbia –a mix of retail and office space in the former Sears Building located at 701 Granville St (Pacific Centre).  Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2012 with the first phase scheduled to be completed by 2014.

The soon to be refreshed Pacific Centre construction includes both retrofit and expansion plans that will increase retail space by 30%. The prestigious American chain, Nordstrom, will be taking up over 23,000 square feet of space and serve as the anchor store for the building.

Helping to bolster Vancouver’s office market and significantly update the current soiled image of the building, the glass encased building is poised to help stimulate the downtown core. Notable features include two atriums, landscaped rooftop and office space with 17 foot ceilings.

"There is no other office space like this in the downtown core," said Tom Knoepfel, Senior Vice-President of commercial real-estate giant, Cadillac Fairview. "These are very large floor plates which are not currently available in the heart of the city."

We are thrilled to be involved in a project of this magnitude and are very much looking forward to working with the design and construction teams on the project,” says Ed Trueman, CFMS’s lead engineer for the commissioning services.

Spring of 2015 is the scheduled opening date for Nordstrom and the office space, for which construction is predicted to take just over two years to complete.
