Project Blog – The New Sharon PS YRDSB

A new school opened for the new school year – Sharon Public School for York Region District School Board.  Sharon PS has a long history, going all the way back to when it first opened in 1858.  If you can imagine, the original wooden school house was leased for $9.00 a year, before being purchased in 1906 for $100.00, then just 10 years before the 100-year anniversary in 1948 more land was purchased for $250.00!  In 1957 there were 140 students in attendance, before further expansion in 1966 and again in 1988.  It was still felt that the community had outgrown the school, so a new school was proposed in 2020, and the newly opened school has room for over 600 students, as well as a full child care centre.

CFMS is providing commissioning for this school, one of many for York Region District School Board, who we have be partnering with since the 1990’s providing quality control on their new construction and renovation projects.
