Welcome to our updated website

Welcome to our updated website!  They say time flies when you are having fun.  Well I must be have been having a blast!!  It has been 6 years already since we launched the updated, new and improved CFMS website back in 2012.  Where has the time gone?  So here we are, thanks to the great work of Mouth Media, with the latest CFMS website.  While the 6 years did fly by, it was certainly time for refresh, and tweaking things in order to meet the current standards for websites.

Not JUST our website – a lot has happened over the last six years.  CFMS’ ownership changed.  When Ed and I took over the reins, we said a fond farewell to CFMS founder, Mel James.  In the early 90’s Mel had noticed a need in the construction industry, to ensure the individual building components work together and that building systems operate efficiently.  Today, commissioning has become an integral part of most new and renovation construction projects.   Ed and I have enjoyed providing the same excellent level of service as started by Mel, and are looking forward to what the future holds for CFMS.

The equipment technology is always changing – becoming more energy efficient.    I recently witnessed the start-up of an oil-free centrifugal chiller.  It was quieter than most chillers.  It is said to be the most energy efficient and have the lowest operating costs.

The non-traditional systems are becoming more traditional.  We are seeing more geothermal systems as well as variable refrigerant systems.  We have a client exploring the possibility of using a displacement ventilation approach on a future project.

Despite these changes, one thing remains the same, whether the HVAC systems on a project are traditional or cutting edge, commissioning plays a very important role to ensure the systems are functioning at their peak performance, and that the building operators are knowledgeable on the systems operation.  I am looking forward to the next 6 years, to see what new and innovative ideas come to reality in the building systems world, and what our next website refresh will look like…
