A message from Mel James:

CFMS was incorporated in 1992 and one of the services provided by the company is to assist building owners operate their building more efficiently.  As a result, a building energy usage was reduced which in turn reduced their carbon footprint.

CFMS has operated for 25 years and one of the ways they have chosen to celebrate this achievement was to organize a tree/shrub planting at the Kortright Centre in Kleinberg.  What a fabulous way to identify with the many years that CFMS has reduced the carbon footprint of many buildings in Ontario.  Trees and shrubs provide habitat for many animals, birds and insects they assist to moderate the weather and they reduce the carbon content of our environment.

The planting was organized by the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and they arranged the trees and shrubs in an area that will provide shelter and food. They did a great job of welcoming our group, providing instruction and plenty of water and food.  I would certainly recommend this activity to any company that wishes to get involved with environmental issues.

The participants in our group came to work, learn and have fun.  I especially enjoyed working with the children who were very curious about the insects, worms and snakes we came across.  I really enjoyed seeing my friends and colleagues.  I do miss working at CFMS, but I also am enjoying my retirement.

Congratulations to the organizing team.  You did a great job.

Bets Wishes

Mel
