Q&A's with CFMS President Wendy Collins

We wanted to kick off our 26th year in business with a chance to get to know the CFMS Team a little better.  Everyone was given a list of questions from which to choose a few to answer.  One group of questions were 'random facts about you' while the other group was work related.  We are starting with Wendy Collins, who has worked for CFMS since 1994, and has acted as president since 2013...

Random facts

Q)  What was your first job?

A)  Delivering the daily, local newspaper.

Q)  What was your dream job when you were a kid?

A)  For many years a Nurse, then a scientist.

Q)  What’s an item on your bucket list?

A)  While I have had the pleasure to visit several provinces in Canada for work, I would love to visit each province and territory as a tourist.

Work related

Q)  What’s a surprising aspect of your job?

A)  While the basis scope of work is similar on each project, every project is different.  We are working with different people and each building has its own personality.  It is never the same day twice.

Q)  Why do you think people should want commissioning on their projects?

A)  On a project, each piece of equipment is started up individually but not necessarily fully verified as part of a system.  During commissioning, the systems are tested as whole – ensuring that the different pieces of equipment work together and do not adversely interact with other systems.

Q)  What do you love most about your job?

A)  The people.  We have fantastic people in our office and work with great clients, consultants and contractors.
